Andrew joined the Wellington office of Baldwins in September 2012 to work in their engineering and electronics team. Andrew was previously a partner in a UK patent firm and is a UK and European patent attorney.
Andrew has particular experience in the mechanical, electrical, telecoms, and medical technology areas, as well as having experience of business related inventions including online/electronic transaction systems.
He has considerable experience in handling UK, European and overseas patent matters and is particularly skilled at being closely involved with a business, drafting commercially sound patents and providing commercially focused advice appropriate to the business concerned.
Andrew has acted for a range of clients including individuals, start-ups, universities and larger corporations.
Andrew has regularly conducted and advised on patent novelty searches and infringement/freedom to operate searches, due diligence work, and additionally provides infringement advice relating to registered designs. He has previously represented clients on contentious issues at the UK patent office regarding designs, and also on patent matters at the European Patent Office.
