Cloudy Bay – Sauvignon Blanc 2010
Tasting Notes –
Cloudy Bay Sauvignon Blanc 2010 has fresh acidity and displays a lovely spectrum of Sauvignon Blanc flavours and aromas. Zingy lime / grapefruit citrus, ripe tropical characters and delicate floral / herbal notes meld on the nose and palate. A small portion of barrel ferment adds weight and texture to the wine, nicely balanced by a mineral acid backbone. It is a wine of vibrant intensity and elegance .... and thoroughly refreshing.
Cloudy Bay – Chardonnay 2007
Tasting Notes –
An irresistible mix of ripe citrus and toasted nut aromas reminiscent of grapefruit, fig and pistachio biscotti taken with chamomile tea. The palate leads with savoury notes which give way to a taut citrus core, revealing the vibrant Marlborough fruit. Natural yeast fermentation and judicious oak handling combine to deliver a refined and textural finish. Expect the 2007 Cloudy Bay Chardonnay to age gracefully over the next five to seven years.
Oyster Bay – Pinot Noir 2009
Tasting Notes –
“Fresh cherry and delicate violet notes, embraced by juicy black plum and a lingering seductive texture.” - Michael Ivicevich, Chief Winemaker
The philosophy of Oyster Bay is to produce fine, distinctively regional wines that are elegant and assertive with glorious fruit flavours. With every vintage we are working with more established vines from small vineyard sites, each chosen for its aspect and uniform soils of moderate fertility, providing for extended ripening and enhanced fruit flavour profiles. With pinot noir the fruit is always the primary focus. Each vineyard block is harvested as a separate parcel and treated individually at each stage of the winemaking process. This enables us to influence and enhance the wine using traditional winemaking techniques, adding subtlety and complexity. We use a combination of barrel and tank fermentation and mature the wine in a mix of new and older French oak. Oyster Bay Marlborough Pinot Noir is elegant cool climate pinot noir at its best. Fragrant, soft and flavourful with aromas of ripe cherries and sweet fruit tannins that provide structure and length.
