Etienne joined Baldwins' Wellington office in June 2007 as a Patent Executive. After completing a BE (Hons) in Electrical and Electronic Engineering at the University of Canterbury, he worked as a Compliance Engineer undertaking fault investigations, IP, type and environmental testing to international standards for hi tech manufacturers to assist with their product development.
During his studies, Etienne focussed on electronics, power electronics, integrated circuits, hardware and electromagnetism and completed his Honours project in the field of Nanotechnology. His work as a Compliance Engineer assisted manufacturers to overcome non-tariff trade barriers by providing product certification that would allow their products to be exported globally. This was completed in a testing facility recognised by Hong Kong, Singapore and the Middle East through multi-lateral agreements and with other global partners, to facilitate world-wide acceptance of IANZ accredited test reports.
