Harriet joined the Auckland office of Baldwins in January 2006. Prior to this, upon completion of a BSc (Hons) in Chemistry in 2003, she worked with the Intellectual Property Office of New Zealand (IPONZ) as a Patent Examiner. In this role her work focused on examining pharmaceutical and chemical patent applications, as well as working with the IP policy team at the Ministry of Economic Development, developing policy relating to Maori issues and "Traditional Knowledge".
Harriet's practice at Baldwins primarily involves providing advice on patentability issues, drafting patent specifications, and prosecuting patent applications through examination to grant.
Harriet's technical areas of expertise are chemistry and biotechnology. Her BSc (Hons) research was in the area of synthesis and photochemistry of polydentate amino acids. Her area of IP focus at Baldwins is patent prosecution.
