What information is needed to file a design application?

You should have drawings of your design on the article or articles you wish to protect.  These drawings should be as close as possible to the final product you are seeking to protect or produce.  If there are differences then these may be used by third parties to avoid infringement of your design.

It is also helpful to consider the products that are available on the market or have been published already and any differences between those existing designs and your design. In particular for New Zealand, you should consider the new and original features of your design that appeal to the eye.

If you would like to discuss your idea further, please contact us to arrange a no obligation consultation with one of our design specialists today.
