Top talent recognised: Baldwins announces three promotions for 2017

Kate Giddens is a member of Baldwins’ trade mark team in our Wellington office. A barrister and solicitor, Kate specialises in trade mark protection, management and enforcement. She has a high success rate taking challenging trade marks through to registration in New Zealand. Kate works with clients across a range of industries including those in the automotive, entertainment, food and beverage, sportswear and telecommunication industries. Kate’s promotion to Senior Associate is a reflection of her talent, experience and commitment to providing a high standard of service for clients.
Dr Victoria Argyle is one of two new Associates in the specialist chemistry and lifesciences team in Baldwins’ Auckland office. Having a PhD in inorganic chemistry as well as being a solicitor and registered patent attorney, Victoria is well-placed to provide expert patent advice to clients operating in the chemical and biotechnology industries. This includes drafting patent specifications, advising on freedom to operate, prosecution of New Zealand and Australian patent applications, and advising clients on infringement and patentability issues.
Harriet Tregonning joins Victoria as a new Associate in the chemistry and lifesciences team in Baldwins’ Auckland office. Harriet is a registered patent attorney and holds a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Science (Neuroscience) as well as a Masters of Bioscience Enterprise. Harriet’s post-graduate business qualifications provide a strong commercial grounding for the advice she provides clients. She handles prosecution of patent applications and resolution of disputes before the New Zealand and Australian patent offices, in addition to advising on patentability and freedom to operate. Harriet’s main practice areas are in the fields of biotechnology, agricultural technologies, and animal and human health.
