We’re pleased to announce the recent promotions of our trade mark specialist, Nadia Ormiston and our patent expert, Matthieu Mouscardes. We have also welcomed Sarah Harrison, and Victoria Watts to our trade marks team and Bojun Zhou to our patents team.

Nadia Ormiston has been promoted to an Associate in our Auckland based trade marks team. Nadia is a barrister and solicitor, and has completed her study towards her Trans-Tasman patent attorney qualification. Specialising in trade mark protection, enforcement, and management, she is effective in providing strategic advice to our local and international clients. Nadia has advised clients across a range of industries including those in the food & beverage, fashion, cosmetics and retail, and the media and entertainment sectors.
Matthieu Mouscardes, has been elevated as Senior Associate, and is a member of the mechanical & electrical engineering team in our Auckland office. Matthieu is a registered patent attorney in New Zealand and Australia, and has also obtained a Masters of Engineering, an Advanced Masters in Innovation and Technology, and a Patent Litigation diploma. Having qualified as a European patent attorney and worked in Europe for American and British companies, Matthieu is well placed to provide expert patent advice to our clients internationally, draft patent specifications and progress applications through to grant, advise on patentability and freedom to operate, and draft and prosecute commercially focussed registered design applications. Matthieu’s main practice areas are in the fields of mechanical engineering, software & computer systems, and medical devices.
Sarah Harrison, Senior Associate has joined Baldwins as a leader of one of our Auckland based trade mark teams. Sarah has extensive experience in clearing, registering, and enforcing trade marks in addition to advising on the commercial issues associated with IP. Her key industries include agribusiness, biotechnology, media and creative, and health. For eighteen years, Sarah has advised local and international clients on trade mark infringement issues, prosecution strategies, branding strategies, and the enforcement of trade mark rights in New Zealand and around the world.
Victoria Watts, has joined Baldwins as a Senior Associate, bringing a wealth of knowledge to one of our Auckland based trade mark teams. Victoria has been practising in the field of intellectual property law in UK and New Zealand for nearly twenty years, specialising in trade mark and branding strategies, trade mark availability and registrability, prosecution strategies, enforcement, and negotiation. She has advised a wide spectrum of clients, from small start-ups to multi-national across various industries including cosmetics and toiletries, food and beverage, nutraceuticals, animal health and computer software.
Bojun Zhou, Associate has joined our Wellington based Patents team following over ten years in first-tier IP firms in Beijing and seven years working for CCPIT Patent and Trademark Law Office. Bojun specialises in the area of patents, primarily drafting, and prosecuting applications. He is experienced in a range of technical fields including telecommunication and information systems, electronic circuits, computer software, and mechanical engineering.
