Thursday 27th February 2020
Baldwins Intellectual Property has been named as a recommended firm, and Baldwins trade mark attorneys – Penny Catley, Thomas Huthwaite, and Kate Giddens – are individually recognised in WTR 1000.
Baldwins is delighted to once again receive commendations from World Trademark Review’s annual WTR 1000 publication and to have the firm’s trademark representatives recognised among the world’s best for 2019. The WTR 1000 guide shines a spotlight on leading firms and individuals in the trademark field, across 80 key jurisdictions globally.
Baldwins was awarded WTR 1000 recommended firm status in New Zealand, receiving a silver ranking. Our lawyers and patent attorneys were recognised for their “high level of practical experience and academic qualifications”.
WTR noted that “Clients cannot help but rave about the service it (Baldwins) offers” and illustrated this with a quote from the WTR 1000 market research:
“Even as a small client, I feel that Baldwins’ consultants really value us and they always take the time to deliver the best outcome. They are extremely generous with their time and I appreciate the no-nonsense advice that they provide.”
Partner and head of trademarks practice Penny Catley emerged in the gold tier for her expertise in prosecution and strategy. The gold band identifies individuals with well-established reputations, securing high-profile work from prestigious clients. Penny was recognised for her role as president of the New Zealand Institute of Patent Attorneys (NZIPA), and wealth of experience “putting her in prime position to provide guidance on all IP matters”.
Thomas Huthwaite, who leads the dispute resolution team in our Wellington office, was listed among New Zealand’s Top 12 individuals in enforcement and litigation, reflecting his excellence in the field.
WTR also highlighted that during the guide’s research, senior associate Kate Giddens was praised by a client for “really understanding our requirements and taking the time to understand our business and needs to ensure we have the right trademark coverage, so that we can maintain our competitive advantage”.
