Friday 6th March 2020
Baldwins is delighted to announce that Chelsea Wong has joined the Superdiversity Institute, NZ Asian Lawyers and SUPERdiverse WOMEN as a Young Leader.
The Superdiversity Institute for Law, Policy and Business (SDI) is a multi-disciplinary institute leading research and analysis of law, policy, and business to support organisations in participating and building a superdiverse New Zealand. NZ Asian Leaders and SUPERdiverse WOMEN are networks of SDI, aiming to nurture the next generation of diverse leaders and increase the awareness and presence of diversity in leadership in New Zealand.
As a first generation New Zealand-born Chinese lawyer, Chelsea is a passionate advocate for diverse voices and access to education. Combined with her prior experiences in the public sector and arts industry, Chelsea brings a unique perspective to her legal work. Chelsea previously spent many years as a project manager for the Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra’s education and outreach programme. She strongly believes in the way the arts can champion diversity and bring communities together.
The recent work of SDI was shared by Chelsea in the article A Chinese case study shines a light on superdiverse parties in New Zealand courts. This is a ground-breaking study by SDI’s founder and chair, Mai Chen, on Culturally, ethnically and linguistically diverse parties in the Courts: A Chinese case study released in November 2019. The study makes 36 recommendations to better improve access to justice for culturally, ethnically, and linguistically diverse parties. Chelsea and Baldwins IP are proud to support these recommendations and the work of SDI generally.
