Recognising top talent: Baldwins announces two promotions for 2016

Thursday 28th July 2016

We look after talented IP specialists so they can look after our clients. That’s why we recently promoted dispute resolution specialist, Thomas Huthwaite to Senior Associate, and patent expert, David Koedyk to Associate.

Thomas Huthwaite is a member of Baldwins’ dispute resolution team in our Wellington office. A barrister and solicitor and a registered patent attorney, Thomas has experience in all areas of intellectual property, from protection and maintenance to enforcement. Adept across the spectrum of dispute resolution methods, Thomas is involved in negotiation, mediation and official dispute resolution channels, including acting before the New Zealand Courts and the New Zealand and Australian Intellectual Property Offices. Named as “one to watch” by Legal 500 Asia-Pacific, Thomas’ promotion to Senior Associate is a reflection of his expertise and commitment to providing a high standard of service for clients.

Baldwins’ newest Associate, David Koedyk, is a patent specialist in our Wellington office.  Having a Masters in Science from Victoria University as well as being a solicitor and registered patent attorney, David is well-placed to provide patent advice to clients operating in the chemical and biotechnology industries. This includes drafting patent specifications, advising on freedom to operate, prosecution of New Zealand and Australian patent applications, and advising clients on infringement and patentability issues. He has a keen interest in pharmaceuticals and has written a number of articles concerning pharma-patent rulings in jurisdictions around the world.
